In the wake of Storm Arwen, Ofgem has been in daily contact with the energy networks as they restore power in the worst affected areas. There is an immense 24/7 effort in very challenging conditions that has helped restore power to 97% of households previously affected.
We know this is a really difficult situation for those still without power in these cold weather conditions. There is help available for those that need it via local network operators as well as advice on the Energy Networks Association website.
The priority right now is for power to be restored to those still without electricity but affected customers may be able to claim compensation.
Once power is restored to everyone, we’ll be looking into how the storm has been handled, including the resilience of GB’s power infrastructure for extreme weather, and the speed of the networks’ responses.
