Notice on National Grid Electricity Transmission's Energy Not Supplied Exceptional Event claim

Electricity transmission companies are incentivised under Special Condition 4.2 (Energy Not Supplied output delivery incentive) of their Electricity Transmission Licences to minimise loss of supply to customers. Each year the companies receive a financial reward or penalty based on the total volume of Energy Not Supplied to customers connected to their network. The size of the reward of penalty is calculated based on how the company performed against an annual Energy Not Supplied volume target (measured in MWh).

If the company believes that a loss of supply was caused by an event beyond its reasonable control then it may make a case to the Authority for the event to be designated an Exceptional Event and for all or some of the Energy Not Supplied during the event to be excluded when we calculate its revenue reward or penalty.

This letter sets out the Authority’s intention to issue a direction in relation to National Grid Electricity Transmission's claim for an Energy Not Supplied Exceptional Event that occurred on its network on 24 March 2022. The Authority is satisfied that the event is an Exceptional Event and proposes to issue a direction to exclude 89.9 MWh related to the event when calculating National Grid Electricity Transmission's Energy Not Supplied Incentive Adjustment for regulatory year 2021/22.
